The Power Pose Project is developed by Pittsburgh-based photographer Shauna Miller, based on Amy Cuddy’s 2012 Ted Talk about body language. The idea of a power pose is to audit your current posture and then spend two minutes in a more powerful pose to appear confident, even if you’re not feeling that way. With practice, you can alter your state of confidence when needed or over time. Miller hopes to challenge the gender roles with which women are raised and deconstruct everyday misogyny by photographing women in what they identify as their power pose. For this show, she has captured the portraits of over 100 women of various identities in hopes of inspiring them and others to reclaim their power and find their confidence.
We will be collecting donations for Pittsburgh Action Against Rape all night: https://paar.net/
