Join us for the APRIL edition of In the Weeds x Workshop! This month, we're proud to welcome The Bunker NY's ABBY ECHIVERRI & Pgh's MALLGHOST.

In partnership with Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, every 1st Monday we offer a FREE musical instrument / production workshop + DJ night to give you more of the sounds you love. All-ages and experience levels welcome.

/////// APRIL 1: PATCH / WORK ///////

WORKSHOP (7-9p): ABBY ECHIVERRI (The Bunker NY)
Abby's workshop is geared towards beginner and intermediate skill levels. Her talk will include a demonstration combining hardware (Korg Minologue, Modular Eurorack synthesizer, Elektron Rytm drum machine) with Ableton. Afterwards, attendees are encouraged to offer some patch ideas that can be tried out as a group. Abby Echiverri is a young producer based in Brooklyn, NY, whose intense curiosity has led her to take on a variety of roles as a musician, sound engineer, DJ and VJ. Her releases include her debut EP on The Bunker NY, entitled Ab Initio, which has garnered a number of positive reviews. As a live musician, Echiverri’s left-field musical influences, deft hardware manipulations, and experienced engineering meld into an inventive interpretation of techno.

IN THE WEEDS (9p-12a): MALLGHOST
Mallghost is a Pittsburgh-based musician, writer and visual artist. Their work explores the intersection of the cryptozoology, the occult, Appalachia, and the queer experience.

/////// ABOUT ///////
The WORKSHOP (7:30-8:30pm): we've invited local & visiting artist-educators to take inspiration from electronic music pioneers past & present in choosing a piece of gear from the library’s collection to share with you. They will show you the basics, along with some pro-tips & tricks to achieving that sound that may have been stuck in your playlist or between your ears :)

The PLAYGROUND (7-9:30pm): CLP offers a special selection from their ever-growing instrument collection that you can play with at your own pace. Explore or perfect your skills in a chill atmosphere, and remember, you can always check out this equipment from the library to take home for more fun!

CLP: The Music Department at the CLP – Main Library has a growing collection of musical instruments and gear available for FREE check out and in-house exploration. The collection includes analog and digital synthesizers, drum machines, guitar pedals, microphones, ukuleles, a Moog Theremin and more.

Big thanks to CLP for partnering on this program and Ace Hotel Pittsburgh for the continued support. This has been a goal of ours since we began ITW and we couldn't do it without you!
