After some successful team collaborations of the Queer Steppas Ball in March and the Gay In The Woods stage at Honcho Campout 2019, In Training will be taking over Honcho's night at Hot Mass for a limited time only while the boys are on the opposite coast spreading some positive homo dance vibes. We've called upon two of Campouts all-star witches Nishkosheh and Hi-Vis to cast some musical spells on everyone from open to close.
NISHKOSHEH is a connoisseur of all sounds mystic, perfectly mischievous, and naughty. Their "anything goes" draws heavily from the adventures of their youth - all night parties in bedrooms, strange DIY spaces, sand dunes, anywhere the DJ may help people journey with the unyielding power of music. Nishkosheh's sets toss genres in the blender and serve them on ice - always happiest when the guitar licks are ripping, the drums are funky, and the basslines are chugging. Their mixing and selections are an attempt to encapsulate the delicate balance of sheer joy and pure darkness found in all of us. Through their dedication to love and education through music, they've held slots as a former facilitator at Portland DIY space S1, appearances on NTS Radio, and countless hours of workshops and classes aimed towards new modes of learning for trans, non-binary, and women artists. Currently, they hold a bi-monthly residency at The Soft Machine in Chicago with the bold sound practitioner & selector Justin Aulis Long. The Nishkosheh Hemlock Hole moment at Campout this year was brimming with weirdness, poise, and pure mood - they are here to have a good time and dance with you in the magical depths of their mind.
HI-VIS is a Motherbeat Summoner based in Chicago, operator of both the experimental mix series Beyond/Below and the Jacktone records sublabel Dreamtone. In her DJing and curatorial efforts, Hi-Vis tends to explore otherworldy abstract beats and zones - psychedelic mid range and top layer sounds usually drifting in and out over undulating, adventurous rhythms. She is a true healer and communicator through the art of deep listening, and has also now morphed into a formidable conduit of strange and enticing dance music of all sorts. Combining forces with her partner SOLD, she forms 1/2 of the duo Farplane who closed out the Way In stage at Honcho Campout this year with a 5 hour session of whirrs, hums, and perfectly imperfect sound within the loving embrace of nature. Alongside SOLD, she also helps curate the recurring Neon Falls events in Chicago - a dance party series committed to psychedelic and loving experiences with music and the community around them. Having performed in Pittsburgh before doing more abstract & ambient sets, she's back for her first time unleashing some wiggles upon the queers and expanding all our brain matter.
