YEAR 2, LEHGO!!!

On January 28th, 2019 Darkness is Spreading began our In the Weeds residency and I DJed for the first time ever. Come join me and my crew on January 27, 2020 as we celebrate the beginning of year two. NOTE: I will be DJing In the Weeds far less in 2020. I never thought my new career would take off the way it has - what a phenomenal, exciting, surprising time it's been. Thus, it's the perfect time for me to concentrate on extending this opportunity to other DJs. I'll always be there to host, support, and take photos (and I'll continue DJing our other parties at other venues), but I'm handing over the Monday night decks to a new crop of babes this year <3

In addition to jams and vibes, food and drink specials from the cheap eats menu are available until 12am. NO cover, open to all (but 21+ to sip likka)!

HUNY (Sarah Huny Young), the founder of Darkness is Spreading and a New Yorker in Pittsburgh, is a DJ, event producer, creative director, and king of all trades soundtracking and producing Black women, femme, and queer-centered events throughout the city. Her sets are heavy on ballroom vogue beats, house, hip-hop, 90's R&B, and dancehall...but anything with a nasty beat, genre-aside, can get it, too.

DARKNESS IS SPREADING is a music-based event collective, founded by artist & DJ sarah huny young (aka HUNY), that celebrates intersectional Black culture. The name is both an homage to the legendary Rick James skit on Chappelle Show and a mission: to create inclusive experiences that center Black women, femmes, and the Black queer community and spread the movement throughout Pittsburgh and beyond.
