Deekline

is that rare figure in dance music, the seminal producer who balances the cutting edge and the mainstream with effortless flair. Boss man chief of the Hot Cakes/Jungle Cakes collective of producers, promoters and DJs, this bonafide bass music icon is currently experiencing a new lease of life as a legendary figure to a new generation of jungle, bass and garage artists.

Tracks such as Got to Believe, Deepa and jungle anthem Good to Have the Feelin, with the legendary Tippa Irie, have picked up play and support from DJs such as MistaJam and Annie Mac, on Radio 1 and 1Xtra. His collaboration with General Levy and Ed Solo, Have Some Fun, was also a massive hit on the airwaves.

In the studio, Deekline is a bonafide musical shapeshifter, his impressive diversity having seen him rework the likes of Armand Van Helden, Old Dirty Bastard and The Prodigy. His landmark, chart-topping Welcome to the Jungle mix series on Jungle Cakes has just reached its eighth volume, and upcoming projects include a new artist album alongside Specimen A, plus a big hand in the forthcoming Jungle Cakes x Trojan Records remix project.

Sean 2:16

first got behind the decks in May 2008, by August that same year he played his first gig and since then Sean has been booked month in and month out, quickly winning over fans throughout the region. Sean has since then earned quick recognition landing him on some of the biggest events on the east coast including Baltimore based production company, Steez Promo's signature Massives, the legendary Starscape Festival, and Moonrise Festival, Big Dub Festival, Machine Gun Kelleys EST Fest, as well as performing at the first ever Excision curated fest, Lost Lands Festival. His hard work and dedication to the local music scenes has also landed Sean as one of the Pittsburgh resident djs on Steez Promo's signature Bassnation events (formerly Dubnation). Sean 2:16 has shared the stage as an opening act for such artists as Skrillex, Griz, Big Gigantic, Borgore, Rusko, 12th Planet, Darude, Paul Oakenfold, Zeds Dead, Snails, Buku & Evol Intent just to name a few. With such a quick rise in recognition Sean 2:16 shows no sign of letting up or slowing down.

Dropset

Dieselboy. Reid Speed. AK1200. Gridlok. Evol Intent. Hive. Fury. Submerged. The list goes on and on and on regarding influential and genre defining drum & bass artists hailing from the United States, yet looking at that list one thing is apparent: no one has risen up from the land of the free in a long, long time. That’s about to change. Enter Tom Kinsey. The Pittsburgh born and bred bodybuilder / personal trainer turned neuro prodigy has had at it for quite some time and the results are starting to stack up considerably in his favour. After having circled around the American usual suspects Divination and Abducted, he’s finally graduated towards Europe, first with releases on Close 2 Death and C4C and then getting onto ProtoCode and Korsakov Music. As promising a trajectory as any. It wasn’t always likely Dropset was going to make it. Growing up with classic rock, hard rock and hip hop, he segwayed into electronic music when he heard the Disco Deathrace mixtape by DJ Keoki in 2000, aged just 13. Then when he stumbled across DJ Dara at a party 2 years later, his love for dnb started and there was no turning back. He’d immerse himself in the sounds of Ram Trilogy, Ed Rush, Optical, Bad Company, Loxy, Ink, C4C and all of those legends that formed our music the way it is today. Until he figured he needed to not just play it. Tom needed to make it. And so he started. The year is 2016 when he decides to get serious about production, landing him his first release only 2 years after. Under the tutelage of Philth, followed by AKOV and finally even production master Joe Ford, Dropset has developed a recognisable yet unique sound that is both heavy and catchy, both easy on the ears and technically impeccable. The tunes keep getting bigger, the collabs keep getting bigger, the labels keep getting bigger, and even his body keeps getting bigger. 50 years from now, will he be named in one breath with all the immortal legends that paved the way for him to pursue a career as a drum & bass artist? No one can tell. However, if there was ever anybody from the US with the skillset, motivation and talent in the new generation of producers, it would be Dropset. The future will tell. Get ready for him to show you all.
