Friends of the Bulgarian Tambura & Balkan Night 2026
A two-day Balkan music, song, and culture celebration featuring a FREE workshop, Bulgarian and Croatian tambura artists, and a Balkan Night showcase with live music and dancing.
BMNECC & Otets Paissii present 'Friends of the Bulgarian Tambura,' a two-day celebration of Balkan music, song, and culture at the Bulgarian Macedonian National Educational & Cultural Center in West Homestead, PA. The weekend begins with a FREE, interactive instrumental and singing workshop and artists forum, exploring the stories between Bulgarian tambura and Croatian samica. What we learn on Friday comes alive on Saturday through performances featuring Otets Paissii, Nema Signal ft. Mark Špišić, the Vlado Mollov Band, and more.
Friday, September 18 at 7pm (doors at 6): FREE EVENT 'Stories Behind the Strings' — an interactive artist forum and workshop, free and open to the community. Guest artists include Evelina Hristova (Bulgarian singing), Dimitar Hristov (Bulgarian tambura), and Mark Špišić (Croatian tambura). Learn it Friday, perform it Saturday!
Saturday, September 19 at 7pm (doors at 6): Balkan Night! A live showcase followed by music and dancing, featuring Nema Signal and Vladimir Mollov Band, with a special performance by hosts Otets Paissii Performing Folk Ensemble.
Food and drink available for purchase both evenings starting at 6pm (the kitchen will close during performances and reopen afterward). Early bird tickets available through September 14 for $30. Regular admission: Adults $35, Kids under 12 $10, Kids under 5 free.
