Pittsburgh Sound + Image presents a special screening of all of Maya Deren's completed films on 16mm film, in celebration of the pioneering avant-garde filmmaker's birthday. Maya Deren (born May 29, 1917) is widely regarded as one of the most important experimental filmmakers of the 20th century, known for works such as 'Meshes of the Afternoon' (1943), 'At Land' (1944), 'A Study in Choreography for Camera' (1945), 'Ritual in Transfigured Time' (1946), 'Meditation on Violence' (1948), and 'The Very Eye of Night' (1958).
