MUTANT MACHINES MAKE MURDER MAYHEM

The Transgressive Robotics of Survival Research Laboratories

As the digital age continues to consume us, the monster machines of Survival Research Laboratories (SRL) remind the world that we are the creators of our own destruction. Founded in 1978 by Mark Pauline in San Francisco, California, SRL is a performance group of artists, mechanics and industrial designers who build robots straight from the nightmare fueled abyss of hell. Such creations include The Demanufacturing Machine, The Square Wheeled Car and Stu Walker - a flame shooting robot controlled by the motions of Pauline's pet guinea pig Stu. Many of their performances require the audience to sign a waiver. Our programming includes the classic releases A BITTER MESSAGE OF HOPELESS GRIEF (1988) and A SCENIC HARVEST FROM THE KINGDOM OF PAIN (1984). We'll break things up with a short interview with Pauline entitled TERROISM AS ART by The Verge as well.
