Refuge is a new dance party for queer folx and friends to come together in playful ritual, to get out of our heads and drop into our bodies through somatic play and a bit of magic.

Each month, with the turning of the zodiac, we align ourselves with the present sign-element-modality, gently calibrating to the constant cycles of life, the world around us and the worlds within.

This month, the dreamiest of dreamers -Pisces- is calling us to get connected with ourselves and one another on an emotional-intuitive level, practicing understanding and compassion. Which honestly feels pretty clutch right now. We are taking that call and swimming with it in our first ever Embodiment Play Time!! It'll be an opportunity for those of us who have often felt like our bodies are NOT safe places to be, who may have sought escape from our bodies through disassociation, distraction or substances, to play around with the experience of embodiment, to hold it lightly, and try it on for a spell.

Our good buddy Gunner will guide us through some clowny communions before we head to the dance floor to completely lose our minds. DJ Mx.defy, known for infusing their performances with a sassy mix of wall-banging bass lines and pure queer joy, is calling in the twin fishes by curating this dance party from their gut, crafting us a sonic dreamscape that transcends genres. Expect everything- Hip Hop, House, R’n’B Throwbacks, Pop Remixes, Reggaeton, EDM, Disco- expect nothing, they will defy it all. This somatic magic dance set will be gushing with tracks to loosen us up from fish-lip to -tail.

20% of all proceeds will go directly to SisTers PGH to continue their work of dismantling cycles of systemic oppression impacting BIPOC trans PGH folx <3

A few things to keep in mind:
1-At this party the dance floor is sacred, we ask that you keep drinks, phones and conversations on the side lines. If you need to communicate on the dance floor, try body language!

2-There will be an altar, please bring something to co-create it with us!! Rocks, flowers, knick knacks or fish shaped things you found, anything you feel calls in the empathy, creativity, or spiritual depths of Pisces. You can leave the item for future altars or take it home with you at the end of the night, charged up with dance floor goodness.

3-This is a space for queer folks and their friends, if you are not queer and have no queer friends, please think hard and get clear with yourself on why you want to be here. Any actions or statements that cause other attendees discomfort will instigate a conversation and could lead to you being asked to leave.

4-This is a space to practice and play with embodiment, for that reason we center sobriety. We totally respect that folx may want or need a lil social lubricant before or during our events, we just ask that you keep it on the DL and don’t get sloppy <3
