It’s our Sweet Abyss 2-year anniversary! 30 events and 24 months deep into the chasm, we are romping and rolling onward with an extremely special celebration. We are ecstatic to welcome our friends, the very talented CLEAR CHANNEL @clear__channel - based out of Washington D.C.! This live duo consisting of Awad Bilal (Too Free) and Mary Regalado (Downtown Boys, Gauche) produce an eclectic mix of artistry and activism, fusing funky post-punk with humor, bouncy bass lines, and celebratory rhythms. Described as “making party music on the brink of psychic annihilation” by the Washington Post, “Clear Channel is distinctly DC and glowing.”

Joining our live performance roster, Pittsburgh’s own superstar MAYA UNIVERSE @mayauniverse_ will serenade the tea bar, fresh off their recent release “Glimmer”. Their mystical set will feature special guest accompaniment from LYS SCOTT @thelysscott and MIRA MIRA @miraaasamiraaa on flugelhorn.

On disc jockey duties - it’s time to get that ass shaking and those hips gyrating with ICY PISCES. @___icy.pisces will heat us up right out of any icy temperatures as we close out the Piscean season. Ecstatic rhythms, joyous beats, and everything under the kitchen sink. Dance with us as we close out the night!

Opening up the sweet abyss portal is Sweet Abyss resident MALZOF @jmal_malzof - an originator of TDM (transgender dance music) and TVM (transgender visual media). They are known to freak it and bring digital collage to life across projection art, disc jockeying and more!

Sweet Abyss is an event to center trans/queer folks playing a wide variety of fun, strange, rhythmic sounds to dance or move their minds to. Dance to all kinds of synth-wave, trip hop, dub, disco, electronic explorations, & more. Hosted by residents Kiernan Laveaux, Malzof, Davis Galvin + Carrie Sours.
